CAPS for young people

  • Arthritis affects about one in a thousand children and young people.
  • In most cases we do not know what has caused it.
  • It could be related to your genes or to the environment.
  • The arthritis may go away after some months or years or may carry on into adult life.
  • At the moment we cannot tell who will recover and who will have more long-term problems.
  • We want to identify factors that may be involved in the development of arthritis and to identify factors that may help predict how you will do over the long-term.
  • We need to better understand how arthritis works and affects young people like you, to help choose the best treatment in the future.
